Rust is in the cast iron.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have a lot of different cast iron pots and pans. My neighbor bought the remy olivier cast iron crepe pan. It rusted on her. She asked if I can clean it off. I removed the rust. Re-seasoned it 4 times. The rust keeps coming back even worse. It was just 2 spots. Now, it is almost everywhere. It seems that cast iron is already contaminated with the rust. It is made in China with cheap material.

Kitchen knives rust

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've had the 19 piece set of knives for about 4 months and the problem keeps getting worse. About 1 month in I noticed that one of the knives had a rust stain when I took it out of the dishwasher. The rust problem got increasingly worse, then it started to happen with more knives. I have to use a scouring powder to remove the surface stain but it comes right back after washing. These knives are definitely not stainless steel like it says on the box. I really regret buying these, bought them at Stokes, it's true what they say about you get what you pay for.stay away from these knives

Poor quality. Don't stay sharp, rust issues if not dried promptly after washing.

Would replace yhem if I was sure it would not hurt the feelings of my son who gave them to me as a gift... Clearly stated not to put them in the dishwasher though and many unsatisfied customers do.

Remy Olivier Stand Mixer

Several years ago my Kitchen Aid Mixer stopped working. Jills Steals and Deals just happened to have a Remy Olivier stand mixer 600W for sale on their show. I googled Remy Olivier, great mixer and only $125.00. I couldnt afford another Kitchen Aid at the time and thought, this is great, Im getting a great mixer at half the price. It took forever to come in but I was so excited! Plugged it in and turned it on. It sounded like a freight train was coming thru my home. I could not believe what I was hearing! Turn it on a couple more times, yep, theres that freight train. I played around with the pop up top and that had its problems too. The release *** on the side sticks and wont go back into place. Also the silver paint was worn off in one spot. So disappointed!I put it away and never used it. That $125.00 would have almost bought me a nice Kitchen Aid.

Less than 4 months ago, I bought the set of pots and pans with black plastic handles and lid `knobs' on sale at the Stokes near our home. The lid knobs were loose right from the start, and I tried to tighten the screws, with limited result, as they'd already visibly been overtightened at manufacture. I wonder it they were on sale for that reason. Shortly after, I noticed the lid knobs starting to develop hairline cracks. One lid fell off as I was lifting it during use, and pieces of plastic crumbs fell into my soup. I have since bought generic `knobs' to replace them, since I never not bothered to keep the sales receipt. Besides, R.O makes it too difficult for warranty claims, assuming they do respect them, 4 months after purchase. . Otherwise no problem with the metal parts, but I won't be buying R.O so soon after this.

Pasta Maker broken after 4 uses.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Received a pasta maker as a gift. Worked well the first 2 times I used it. Then it started jamming. Decided to pop it open to see what was wrong. Issue #1: besides a few screws the machine is mostly held together with spring tension so when you open it up itll explode into a thousand pieces sending sharp bits flying. Issue #2: There was a plastic film from inside the machine jamming the gears. No diagrams of how the machine goes together are easily available online so putting the machine back together is more hassle than its worth. The next time I tried to use the machine it started jamming again. Then the gears on the rollers completely disengaged. Wouldnt recommend their product. Seems doomed to break down from its expected use case and then become useless if you try to fix it.

Pasta Maker Manual

Remy Olivier Cuisine - Pasta Maker Manual
Remy Olivier Cuisine - Pasta Maker Manual - Image 2
Using the manual pasta maker for the last 6 months. Developed a problem with the rollers not engaging and creating a wavey sheet of noodles. Dismantled the unit and found the retaining ring on the adjustable roller had slipped and was causing the gear to wobble under tension. Replaced both of the original cheap aluminum retaining clips with proper retaining clips, (see attached photo) added some food safe lubricant to prevent rust and will see how it goes...

Preferred solution: on future models of your manual pasta maker, substitute a proper retaining clip that will make your product last a bit longer. Cheap and easy solution

User's recommendation: So, for the price this is a near disposable item. Don't be surprised if you purchase cheap that you get cheap. Will limp this along until I can invest in a proper ,manual pasta maker. Any suggestions???

Pots leak

I presently have 2 pots of the Remy Oliver brand. The pots leak through the lids when cooking at low temperature. Why put *** in the lid to let the steam out when it leaks at the lids. I wouldnt recommend them.

Terrible product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Recently got a Remy Olivier square grille pan from Think Kitchen. I had just purchased a nice Prime grade striploin and was going to sous vide, then sear in the new pan. I put my dual burner on full, and this thing barely got hot enough to sear it, let alone do it quick enough to keep it from over cooking. By the time I was done it was way over cooked, going from medium rare out of the Sous Vide, to completely well done after the pan. Terrible heat retention. Also the handle rivets loosened during its first use enough to where the pan dangles on an angle. Avoid this *** and buy quality.

Poor instructions

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
During the seasoning process I would very highly recommend the oil is put onto cold cast iron grilling pan rather than a preheated pan to avoid filling the house with black smoke. A confirmation email would be welcomed. Thank you Gjlane@***.ca
